Banya On Disability Inclusion in Koboko County

Disability inclusion is not an act of charity — it is a matter of justice, dignity, and equal opportunity. Every person living with a disability in Koboko deserves the right to live a full, productive life. As your Member of Parliament, I will stand firm in championing their rights — from better access to mobility aids like wheelchairs, walking sticks, and white canes, to vision-support tools such as writing tabs. I will also ensure that individuals with disabilities are linked to specialized vocational training centers such as Kyambogo and Arua, where they can gain practical skills that open pathways to employment, independence, and self-confidence.

This commitment is deeply personal. When Uganda lost Hon. Baba Diri Margaret — a trailblazer for disability rights and representation — I was honoured to serve as the chief organiser of her funeral. Her life and legacy continue to inspire my resolve. The fight she began must not fade. I will work to ensure people with disabilities are not left behind in Koboko’s development journey. From supporting inclusive sports and arts programs, to advocating for disability-friendly public infrastructure and enterprise support, I will raise your voices in Parliament, push for increased funding, and partner with agencies and civil society to make Koboko a model of inclusive growth. When we empower people with disabilities, we strengthen the soul of our county. Together, we can build a Koboko where no one is left behind.
